Tonight we attended Monsignor Kevin's anniversary dinner party. He has been a priest for 30 years!!! The party was at Tom and Margie Romano's beautiful home in San Marino and we were honored by Monsignor Kevin asking us to do the invocation! In our prayer, Michael and I made sure to thank the Lord for the blessing of Kevin and for the energy and spirit He fills him with that helps him run the cathedral so efficiently and to be able to touch the lives of so many. A lot of people came up to us that evening complimenting us for the nice words we said about Monsignor Kevin and each time someone said "thank you" to us, all we could say was that it wasn't hard at all to find nice things to say about Monsignor Kevin. I mean, seriously, just in our lives alone he has made such an impact. We are so blessed to have him in our lives, and now, in Zoe's life as well. It's awesome how God knows exactly whom to place in your life and when. I know for sure Kevin's "placement" in our lives was to transform it ... to enhance it ... to help bring out better versions of ourselves. Through him, we've been able to meet so many wonderful people at the cathedral and have also been able to experience the most amazing things as a family. Just seeing the difference he's made in our lives makes us so very certain that he's had similar or even more profound effects on other peoples' lives -- imagine, 30 years of inspiring people!!! He is surely one of God's angels in disguise and our family cannot thank the Lord enough for this man.
It was great to celebrate Kevin tonight. I know it meant a lot to him to see so many people who love him. I'm glad he got the opportunity to be honored tonight (and at all the masses tomorrow) -- he deserves it! Here's to the next 30 years!!!
