Mike and I were in charge of CCC tonight ... while we were excited to host the event, my mind was a bit elsewhere since Zoe is actually sick =(. It's only the second time she's ever gotten sick -- the first time was when her molars came in. She's been having a runny nose for a few days now and when we went to the doctor's office for her regular check up on Friday, they confirmed that my poor baby had a fever =(. I hate seeing Zoe sick ... she doesn't make a fuss at all (she's actually still her happy self) but I could tell that she's not comfortable. She's also lost her appetite ... and seeing Zoe not want food is so new to me. She is such a trooper though. She just lets me suck up the mucus with the aspirator and goes about her business; she even takes her medicine without spitting it out. I've been trying to keep her rested and hydrated and hope that her fever/cold will soon pass.
So when it was time for CCC, I hesitantly left her side for a few hours. Our CCC topic was "Back to Basics". We asked all the couples to bring a memento from their wedding day to share with the group. We wanted people to reflect on their special day because we found that life and marriage and kids and work have a way of making you forget how blessed you are to be with your spouse ... on how special it is that you have been given a "once in a lifetime kind of love". And, as strong as our love is for one another, it is our mutual love for God that binds us stronger and makes us want to keep trying and keep working through whatever issues we may have. The evening went great and we got a lot of really good feedback and faith sharing from our CCC friends. We're all in this together and it is such a tremendous blessing to be able to share and learn from one another ...
At the end of the evening, Kat posted this great picture as a reminder to all of us of how blessed we are to have been married at this beautiful church and how because of that, we've had the opportunity to meet some amazing couples to help us all on our journey =)
When we got back to Sunbeam, Zoe was in pretty good spirits but still with a fever. Mike and I spent the rest of the evening taking turns trying to lower her temperature with a cold wash cloth. It's so hard seeing our little girl sick and I hope and pray that she will get all better sooner rather than later!
