I spent the entire week taking care of my little patient ... I made sure she got plenty of rest by staying in bed with her and watching her shows (Fresh Beat Band, Micky Mouse Clubhouse, Octonauts, etc. etc. etc.). I even brought all her drawing stuff to the bed so that she didn't have to move around too much. She still didn't have much of an appetite, but at least her fever was gone. Just lots and lots and lots of snot =/ ... luckily, she was more than willing to let me use the nasal aspirator on her poor little nose.
Here she is on Day 1 of her "bed-ridden" recovery plan:
As you can see, her eyes are still a bit puffy ... but yet she managed to smile for the camera (that's my girl!). I've been laying down next to her on the bed as she naps (I've been reading "The Help" to pass the time) and it's been helping her to get much needed rest (napping for 2.5 hours!). As she sleeps, I find myself doing nothing but praying for her sickness to go away. Even though she's not screaming or cranky, it's still hard knowing that she's suffering inside. I'm just grateful that she's just getting sick now, and not when she was a "baby baby". God has definitely blessed her with good health and a kick-ass immune system and I know that whatever virus she happened to catch, her body is learning how to fight it better next time.
By Tuesday/Wednesday-ish, she started feeling more like herself. Less snot, more appetite. Here's a picture capturing her improved health =)
I swear this little girl is the BEST. I hope as she grows up, she can maintain this same positive attitude =).
By the end of the week, she was all better ... just a little bit of snot here and there and some minor coughs. But overall, she was a-ok!!
