Zoe's doctor's appointment
Zoe had her 9-month check up today and, as always, she did great!!! The doctor said she seemed very smart and observant. She noticed that Zoe was watching her every move and analyzing what was going on. The doctor said that we should take advantage of Zoe being so observant because it means she loves to learn; she's not the type of baby that just yells and screams just for the heck of it =).
Zoe is now 18 lbs and is 27.25 inches long! She's growing right on target! Babies are supposed to triple their birth weight by the time they are one years old, so we are right on schedule! As we were wrapping up the check-up, the doctor offered to give Zoe a flu shot. I promised Zoe that this appointment involved no shots (we were already done with her immunizations up until her first birthday) but we figured it's better to be safe than sorry (it is flu season, after all). So the nurse went ahead and administered the shot and Zoe once again didn't even flinch!! She's such a tough little cookie! She was watching the nurse the entire time, too. She didn't care that the nurse was holding a sharp needle and was heading toward her thigh! Hopefully she won't have any adverse reactions to the shot -- the doctor said if Zoe has a chicken allergy, we'll find out after the flu shot has been given. I guess there's some kind of chicken enzyme in the flu shot and if you're allergic, you get crazy rashes (similar to chicken pox). Crossing my fingers that Zoe isn't allergic, because let's face it, eggs and chicken are too good to be allergic to, right?
So our next doctor's appointment is after Zoe turns 1 ... hopefully with the cold weather coming and Winter just around the corner, Zoe will continue to stay the healthy and happy girl that she is and we won't find ourselves in the ER or up all night nursing a fever.
Thank you Lord and Zoe's guardian angels for always protecting her and blessing her with good health!
