Zoe and I went on another fieldtrip/adventure/research date today with Liz and Gray. Today's adventure consisted of Romp (in Hollywood) and Gymboree (Culver City). Again, I lucked out with Zoe sleeping the entire way back and forth (despite the traffic on the 101 and 405 freeways) -- what a great passenger!!! Romp was nice but not what we expected considering they charged $15 for free play (most places charge $9). After Romp, Liz and Grayson invited us to attend Grayson's Gymboree class. It was Zoe's first time in a class type setting and she did pretty great! I've been meaning to go to a mommy-and-me class but haven't been able to, so it was great that we got this opportunity. She seemed to really like being around all of the other kids and enjoyed most of the exercises the teacher asked the kids to do. Zoe loves music so she had a blast with all the instrument playing and motor-skill training activities. The only part she got a little freaked out about was during the parachute exercise. She seemed to be having fun at first when they were on top of the parachute but once the parachute went up and down and the teacher set it up for a big "whoosh" at the end when everyone let's go of the parachute, she kind of freaked out and started crying. It was only when the bubbles came and "Gymbo the clown" showed up that she started having fun again =). All in all, it was a great experience for both Zoe and me. Maybe we'll enroll her in a class or two in the near future because she does seem to really benefit from being around a lot of other kids and also to be able to follow instruction from a teacher other than mommy =).
My migraine was acting up all day so when we got home I explained to Zoe that I needed to lie down on the couch a bit while she watched her "My baby can read" video (usually I go through the video with her). She seemed to understand that I was in pain and was fine with me lying down on the couch instead of sitting on the floor with her to watch her video. Every 5 or 10 minutes, my sweet girl would walk up to me, lay her head on my arm and give me a kiss on the head. Seriously -- so sweet, right? I swear those kisses and her well behaved attitude did so much more than the four Advil I took =) ... I hope that those sweet and conscientious qualities stay with her forever ...
