Meeting Kaelyn Rose

After mass and brunch in Woodland Hills yesterday, we drove down to LA to pay a special visit to the Lee Family so we could meet their sweet little girl Kaelyn Rose (born Oct 9th).

It was so nice to be around a newborn again! I had forgotten how tiny new babies are and how sleepy and "still" they are compared to crazy rambunctious toddlers :) ... I swear I can't even remember Zoe ever being that small and it kind of made me sad that I had "forgotten" how baby Zoe felt in my arms.

It was interesting to hear Liz and Nelson describe the change they felt in how they look at Grayson now that they had a new tiny baby ... They said it is the weirdest thing to see Grayson and think how "big" and grown up he is now and that when they picked Grayson up when they got back from the hospital that thy felt like they were carrying a seven year old boy. They had gotten so used to thinking of Grayson as their "baby" and now that a new baby was in their lives, Grayson got bumped up to "big boy status". Liz also reassured me that going through the new baby stage the second time around is so much easier than the first. She found things she stressed out about before (trying to schedule in a shower while caring for a newborn, etc) was no big deal to her now that she's gotten used to all the time and effort it took running after a busy toddler while still trying to get things done.

We spent the rest of the afternoon eating Capriotti Subs and watching Zoe and Grayson (the big kids) play. I'm really glad we got to meet Kaelyn and visit with the Lee's before our vacation. Seeing them so happy and managing two kids certainly gives us hope that we'll be fine, too, once we decide we're ready for baby #2. For now, we'll just continue to enjoy baby #1 and cherish each moment with "just her" in our lives :).

Here's some pics of sweet little Kaelyn as well as some pics of Z and Gray:
