Play date + Pacquiao

Zoe had a play date this afternoon with two three-month-old babies: Ella and Nathan.  They are the kids of two of the couples from our CCC group.  It was GREAT to get together ... not only was it fun to see our kids "hang out" it was also fun to exchange parenthood stories (at least we all know we went through or are going through or will be going through similar things).  It's great to know that aside from friends she will have in school, Zoe will also have a wonderful network of kids who will undoubtedly have Christ in their lives.  I LOVE that our CCC is growing (apparently fertility is one of the prerequisites of joining the group hahahaa) and it's been so fun getting to know each of the couples on a deeper level.  Friends in Christ are the best =)

It's funny that Zoe seemed soooo much older than the other two kids.  It's very rare that she's the "oldie" of the group but she really did seem so mature in comparison to her little friends.  The parents were VERY impressed that Zoe could hold her own bottle and even burp herself.  They are still at the stage where their kids are 100% dependent on them (whereas Zoe is only 99% dependent now that she can hold her own bottle ... hahaha).  When she was done with her bottle and sat herself up to crawl somewhere, they immediately asked, "Aren't you gonna burp her?"  To which I answered, "Oh she can pretty much burp herself when she moves around" ... to which they all responded "Ooooh ... ahhhhhh!"  I could remember when burping Zoe right after a feeding was so crucial to me.  I guess there are benefits of Zoe growing up!  Hahahhaa!  Aside from her independence when it came to feeding, they also saw that they have high pitched screaming (when excited) to look forward to as well as crawling or cruising around EVERYWHERE and not being able to stay still for more than 10 seconds at a time.  Mike and I looked at their very still babies longingly as well remembering a time when we could just sit on the couch and lay Zoe next to us or hold her in our arms and she wouldn't move ... there are pros and cons, I suppose!

We all walked away promising to organize more play dates for our kids (and for us) ... Here's some pics from the play date:

Later that day, my family hosted the Pacquiao fight.  We are huge boxing fans so we all try to watch together any time our Pac-Man has fight ... as usual, there were lots of food and good company and although the fight wasn't that great, we were all relieved that our guy came out the winner.  It was Zoe's first Pacquiao fight with the family so it was funny to have her compete for everyone's attention =) ... we were all laughing because any time we would scream or clap really loud (as the action intensified) she would scream as well.  Plus, she showed everyone she could take 2-4 steps on her own without assistance.  That, in itself, commanded the room's attention =)
